Doing their bit to keep Scouting alive and kicking, the enthusiastic hard working boys and girls in Kipling pack, ensure there is never a dull moment with plenty of fun and laughs along the way. Through taking an active part in the weekly programme, cubs will work towards a number of Challenge badges, and Activity badges over the years. Take a look at our programme to find out what we are currently working on.
Leaders / Helpers
Kipling Cub Pack is run by a team of three warranted leaders: Claire Howarth is the pack Cub Scout Leader (CSL), with Yvonne Southgate and Aaron Smetham the pack’s Assistant Cub Scout Leaders (ACSL). Claire & Yvonne have been running Kipling Cub Pack since 2003. Aaron Smetham (an ex-Kipling cub who has risen through the ranks) became warranted in 2015, and helps whenever his university commitments allow.
On a weekly basis we are often helped by Explorer Scouts or Scouts working for service parts of their Chief Scout awards / Duke of Edinburgh Awards. In addition, we have several parents who are DBS cleared through the Scout Association who help out on outdoor pack evenings or on cub camps.
Cub Camps
Several times a year we hold weekend cub camps for the children. Camping provides an opportunity for the cubs to grow in independence, and is often the thing that they say is the most fun about being in cubs. In the winter / early spring these are indoors in dormitory accommodation, whilst in the late spring / summer they are under canvas in traditional scout tents.
Most of the camps are local (Uckfield / East Grinstead area), but occasionally some of our indoor camps are further afield (e.g. London, Biggin Hill air activities camp). All sites we stay at our Scout Association approved, run by teams of qualified leaders.
