As the newest Cubs section at 4th Uckfield we believe that we’re the enthusiastic pack, if not a little loony at times. Martlets Cub Pack is run by Greg Richards (CSL) and Alan Morgan (ACSL) and supported this year by the fantastic Frances Baily (ex BSL). Some might say that Greg is just a 10 year old Cub in a Leaders uniform and many of you might already know Alan from his dynamic and often adlib performances in recent St Philips Primary School productions, and Frances, well she’s the almost sane one that keeps us all in check. Additional to our warranted leaders, we currently have three amazing Young Leaders that not only are they enjoying their usual evening at 272 Explorer Scouts but they also do an amazing job and form an integral part of our Cub Pack.
Welcoming boys and girls to our pack is something that we’re very proud of and just getting to see the cubs in our pack grow not only in confidence but also personality puts us in a very privileged position. Whether we’re doing challenge badges or activity badges, Martlets cubs have every opportunity to build on their badge portfolios and we can even confess to getting emotional presenting awards and badges to cubs that have really had to excel outside of their comfort zone in order to achieve their goal.
For 2019 we have a full programme of outdoor activities including camping, canoeing, hiking, campfires and exploring. We normally camp in different styles throughout the year ranging from indoor lodge camps to sleeping in tents on fields at fully equipped campsites. The camps aren’t just for the cubs, we regularly have DBS cleared parents helping out and enjoying themselves on camp as much as we do.
Our Usual camping preferred locations are our local ones at Broadstone Warren Scout Camp, Blackland Girl Guides Camp and Parkwood Scout Camp in Brighton. We currently have plans to try some locations further afield at the Scout Association’s Brownsea Island or a fellow group’s site in Southampton.
We look forward to meeting anyone who’s looking for the right scouting environment for their son or daughter.
