4th Uckfield Phoenix Scout Troop meets on Fridays at our Scout HQ, in Rocks Park, from 7pm to 9pm; we do not usually meet during the school holidays.
We have an exciting programme for our Scouts, who are boys and girls aged between 10 and 14. We like to put the ‘out’ into our Scouting and often have trips and activities away from the HQ, much of which feeds into the programme of badges and awards for our young people.
Phoenix Troop runs two main camps a year: our spring camp in May is a joint venture with Alpha Scout Troop. Our summer camp is one week in July or August and we also have other opportunities for nights away as part of the ongoing programme.
Phoenix Scout Troop is run by a dedicated group of warranted leaders, trained by the Scouting Association and DBS checked. We run the Troop in our spare time as volunteers – David Brown is the Scout Leader and our Assistant Scout Leaders are Russell Batchelor and Jonathan Statter. We have two Young Leaders; Elinor Thomas and Will Isted. Our former Scout Leader, Phil Jenkins, is now an occasional helper.
Subs are due at the beginning of each term at £40 per Scout of which two thirds goes to the Group for Scouting insurance and the running of the HQ etc. Gift Aid is a very important part of the Group’s income.
